Issue Information
| Issue Number | 701486a |
| Issue | When performing tbdown abnormal after attaching to a process with gdb on a binary based on Ubuntu 24.04, termination does not proceed and the process hangs. |
| Cause | In procps-ng 4.0.4 on Ubuntu 24.04, a zombie process is not displayed as in the output of the ps -p command, so the logic that identifies zombie processes based on the existing string fails to identify the process as a zombie process. This issue occurs in procps-ng 4.0.0~4.0.4, and the way zombie processes are displayed by the ps command was fixed in procps-ng 4.0.5. |
| Solutions | On Linux, zombie processes are identified by checking /proc//stat, which contains process state information provided by the kernel, separately from the output of the ps command. The change applies to both server-side process checks and CM process checks for tbdown and tbboot. The existing method is retained for AIX, Solaris, and Windows. |
